Lotte Boekhout
ACT therapist, truffle ceremony facilitator and a voice for women in the psychedelic field
In August 2021, I was sitting in my doctor’s office when everything inside me seemed to come to a standstill. I was diagnosed with lichen sclerosus. As a woman, this affected me deeply. I began searching for answers and solutions.
My diagnosis touched on patterns that had been with me for a long time. From a young age, I had learned to care for others and adapt myself to their needs, gradually losing touch with my own boundaries and needs. My body invited me to start listening again.
I learned to reconnect with my feelings, boundaries, and desires. I learned to honor my female cycle and discovered that I didn’t always have to be the one taking care of others. I was allowed to receive, too.
Psychedelics have played an important role in this journey. They deepened my process and helped me not only understand what was happening within me, but truly feel and experience it.
Looking back, I can see how defining that moment was. There is something raw about facing physical symptoms, especially in an area as intimate and vulnerable as the pelvis. Yet I chose to see my symptoms as an invitation. They led me into a much deeper connection with myself, my body, pelvic area, and womanhood.
Lotte Boekhout specialises in psychedelics and women. Her mission is to create a safe, carefully held space for women to explore psychedelics in depth. Psychedelics are increasingly discussed, yet women’s experiences still receive relatively little attention.
Lotte wants to make space for what it means to enter a psychedelic experience as a woman. With attention to the body, hormonal cycles and different stages of a woman’s life, as well as wishes, boundaries and what a psychedelic experience may bring to the surface. She wants to help women explore, with a sense of safety and trust, what a psychedelic experience or truffle ceremony might mean for them.

Lotte’s journey with psychedelics
Lotte Boekhout first encountered psychedelics at the age of 21. What began as a personal experience developed over the following years into a conscious path that has played an important part in both her personal and professional development.
Her own experiences showed her how much difference there can be between simply having a psychedelic experience and receiving skilled, professional support through it. As her exploration deepened, she founded FLO Coaching together with her partner, Floris Wolswijk.
Lotte has now worked as a therapist for 12 years. As an active member of Guild of Guides and PsyStandard, she places great value on professional and ethical standards, supervision and ongoing development in this rapidly growing field.
She also teaches about psychedelics as a guest lecturer at the School for Integrative Medicine and hosts the Dutch-language podcast Psychedelica voor Vrouwen, where she shares knowledge, experiences and conversations about psychedelics and women’s experiences.
The Medicine
She sinks into my body
I feel her slowly dripping down my throat,
my heart, my womb
Like warm honey
She finds her way to all the places where I resist love
Where I haven’t allowed it in
She stretches me and expands me
Far beyond what I thought I could hold
Every time I enter a ceremony
She opens me wider, deeper, fuller to love
As a sweet reminder
You are already so chosen
You are already so loved
