Lotte Boekhout
In August 2021, I was sitting in my GP’s surgery when I felt everything inside me fall silent. I was diagnosed with lichen sclerosus.
As a young woman, it affected me deeply. I felt a great deal of sadness and uncertainty, and began an exhausting search for answers. Along the way, I felt increasingly disconnected from myself, my body and my sense of womanhood.
This experience stirred up old patterns. In my work in mental health care, I had learned to care for others, but had lost touch with my own boundaries and needs. My diagnosis brought those old patterns to the surface and made me realise that, for me, healing was not only physical; it also involved emotional layers.
I learned to listen to my feelings, my boundaries and my desires again. I learned to tune in to my cycle and move at my own pace. Values such as gentleness, beauty and stillness began to hold more and more meaning in my life. I also discovered that I did not always have to be the one caring for others; I could allow myself to receive, too.
Looking back, I can see how much that moment shaped me. Experiencing physical symptoms can feel raw and painful — especially in an area as vulnerable as the pelvic area. Yet I dared to see my symptoms as an invitation to truly listen to myself. It helped me come home, deeply, to myself, my body and my sense of womanhood.
My mission is to break the silence surrounding women’s health and help women feel that they deserve more than medical care alone. I believe that symptoms — however painful and raw — can be an invitation. When you dare to look at them differently, they can open a path back to yourself: away from constantly pushing on, caring for others and adapting, and back towards connection. Towards being truly present with what you feel, long for and deserve.
As one of the few practitioners in the Netherlands, I focus specifically on the emotional impact of lichen sclerosus.
Professional experience and background
From an early age, I knew I wanted to help people. That desire led me to study Pedagogy. After graduating, I began working as a mental health support practitioner in a GP practice (Dutch role: POH-GGZ), where each day I met people from many different backgrounds, each with their own story.
Yet I soon felt that something was missing from my work as a therapist in mental health care. Talking alone did not reach the heart of it: the wisdom of the body. I wanted to create space for the layer beneath the symptoms: stress, tension and emotions. In 2020, I decided to take the leap and opened my own practice.
My training and professional development include:
2024–2025 — Mind Body Medicine, SIM
2024 — Voice Dialogue, StressWise
2021–2023 — ACT and Psychosocial Therapist training, StressWise (Dutch: ACT & Psychosociaal therapeut)
2020 — Yin Yoga Teacher Training (Dutch: Yin Yoga Trainer)
2020 — ACT Coach, Seetrue (Dutch: ACT Coach)
2018–2021 — Post-bachelor professional training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Rino (Dutch: Post-HBO cognitieve gedragstherapie)
2010–2014 — Bachelor’s degree in Pedagogy, Inholland University of Applied Sciences (Dutch: HBO Pedagogiek)
My journey with psychedelics
Psychedelics deepened both my personal and professional journey. In my own life, these experiences helped me restore my connection with myself, my body and my sense of womanhood at a deeper level than I had ever expected.
Despite all my years of personal development, the truffles took me to places within myself that I had not been able to reach before. They invited me not only to understand what was happening, but to truly feel it, move through it and change deeply rooted patterns. Through this, I developed a deep trust in life and in my own path.
That experience led my partner Floris Wolswijk and me to found FLO Coaching, where we guide people through psychedelic truffle journeys in the Netherlands. I also share my knowledge and experience with a growing audience as the host of the podcast ‘Psychedelica voor Vrouwen’.

A truly transformative journey
After years of personal development through coaching, meditation and yoga, I was still searching for a deeper connection with myself. I had heard a great deal about the transformative power of psychedelics, but kept wondering whether it was the right step for me. It felt daunting, but I was so curious about what the experience might offer me. Naturally, I was nervous before my first psychedelic experience, but Lotte’s non-judgemental and loving guidance gave me confidence straight away.
In her welcoming garden room, surrounded by nature, I felt safe enough to begin the journey inward. Through her calm presence, I was able to surrender fully to the process. That deep sense of safety and trust opened the way to a truly magical experience, in which I experienced an entirely new state of consciousness. The beautiful colours and music enhanced the journey, even as I moved through deeper layers and emotions. It felt as though my senses came alive in a completely new way.
Her careful preparation and aftercare helped me process and integrate my experiences into daily life. This first encounter with psychedelics helped me feel more connected to myself and relate to my insecurities differently.

A few weeks ago, I had a one-to-one session with Lotte Boekhout, in which we worked with intention, Voice Dialogue, bodywork and a full dose of truffles. It was such a joy — a real gift to myself. An inner journey into this next chapter of my life, in which I sometimes struggle with where I find myself now: uncertainty and a lack of clarity about the path I want to follow. During the day, we worked with Voice Dialogue, among other things. My Pusher came through clearly, as did the part of me that is content and able to enjoy life, no matter what.
Lotte works with powerful tools, and Voice Dialogue was genuinely valuable to me during this one-to-one journey. It is part of what makes journeying with Lotte so unique. What makes it a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience is her attention to detail, her warm personality and the safe space she creates. This makes it easier to surrender to the process.
The integration session afterwards was also incredibly valuable. Reflecting on the journey together and giving it meaning brought me even more insight into the path ahead, allowing everything to settle more fully. The uncertainty and sense of not knowing have not disappeared, but they have become easier to carry — and certainly more enjoyable, too. The experience felt both profound and light at the same time. I am very grateful to Lotte for that.

What a beautiful experience my first truffle journey was. Lotte is a natural space-holding queen, entirely in her own authentic way. It felt wonderful and put me completely at ease, because I was quite nervous. She helped me settle gently into the welcoming space. The process began before the session, with the intake, questions and setting my intention. The table with the wheel of the year was very helpful. Preparing the truffles together also gave me a chance to get to know them, and filled me with gratitude and a sense of reverence. So beautiful.
The session was in July and, looking back now at the end of December, I still savour how it made me feel and what I took home with me. The GIFT card from her deck helps me reconnect with the experience. I would definitely recommend staying the night, so you can remain in that slower rhythm in the quiet, beautiful, colourful garden.
